Home Runs on Steroids with Baseball Players Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa

Baseball players Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa each hit their highest peak of home runs. All three players have been confirmed in taking steroids during their baseball careers.

In 2001, Barry Bonds reached his highest record of home runs in his entire baseball career. When asked about his outstanding performance during interviews, Barry Bonds said, “There are some things I don’t understand right now.” Even though Barry Bonds tried to pass his winning moment as unexplainable luck, he was later outed by Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams in 2004.

According to Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams, Bonds resulted to steroids after seeing McGwire break record in 1998. McGwire started out high in 1987 with a record of 49 home runs compared to Sosa and Bonds during that time. However as time went on, McGwire’s record began to decrease from 1991–1994.

McGwire’s home run record reached its highest in 1998 with a total score of 70 at the time. During the same year, he admitted to using a muscle enhancer that has now been banned but wasn't back then. In 2010, McGwire officially confirmed that he was using steroids on and off again for about a decade which also included the 1998 season.

During the same year as McGwire, Sammy Sosa broke his record with 66 home runs while reaching the highest that it has ever been compared to previous years. Till this day, Sosa denies that he has ever used steroids and claims that he belongs in the Hall of Fame.

However, his reputation has already been altered for more than a decade because of an anonymous list which he was mentioned amongst other baseball players that were linked to steroids in 2003. After 1998, Sosa drastically declined in yearly totals of home runs at around 2002 and continued to decrease from that point on.
